SSKC Club History
The SSKC (South Sask Kart Club) is one of the oldest clubs in Canada
and is a provincially registered non-profit organization. The club dates
back to hosting events in the 1960's and started out as the KAS (Karting
Association of Saskatchewan). In the 1970's the club shared a facility
with the local stock car club and was then under the guise of the Queen
City Kart Club. When the new track was built in 1993, the club again
restructured under the name of the SSKC. This restructure was designed
to represent the true nature of our members who come from not just the
city of Regina, but also the small neighbouring communities.
Not only are the members well respected in the karting community, they
have a proud history of being strong competitors any where they go.
Some of the members have traveled extensively throughout North America
competing at the highest levels of the sport including IKF Grand
Nationals and the CIK/FIA World Karting Championships. Many of the
members hold multiple championships including IKF divisional and ASN
Canadian National titles.
"The club would like to welcome and extend an open invitation to all
karters to come and race with us at any of its scheduled events through
out the season"Please see our schedule for updates and times.
The club championship is hotly contested through a best six of eight
race events. Along with the club series, in 2007 the club will be
hosting one of three rounds of the ASN National karting events that
qualify racers for trips around the world in the Rotax and ROK classes.
Weather permitting, the club hosts races from October into the winter
time, and shuts down only when the snow flies.
The club is very active in promoting itself in the region and attends
shows and puts on many displays throughout the community. Come and say
hi to us at one of our regular shows such as the Majestic's Car Show,
The Regina Sport & Leisure Show and the Saskatchewan Snowmobile
Sport and Rec show.
